2012 Reunion Dates
Sept. 25, 2012 (Tuesday) through Sept. 29, 2012(Saturday)

We will have registration open at the Crowne Plaza Hotel overlooking the Arch and Mississippi River on Tuesday and Wednesday times to be announced.  The “Bennington Exchange” will be open daily Wednesday through Saturday selling USS Bennington clothing.  We will again have the Silent Auction this year which was such a success at San Antonio and of course the raffle which everyone looks forward to; please bring plenty of items for each.  The 50/50 will be held Tuesday through Friday at 8:00; Saturday after the Banquet, make sure you get plenty of tickets.

We plan to have several excursions for you to embark upon your own if you like to keep you busy; details to follow.

Wednesday will be the Memorial Ceremony and Auxiliary Meeting.  We are also planning other events this day with details to follow.

The trips this year will take you around the city of St. Louis embracing you in the rich history of the city.  We will start off on Thursday with an 8 hour tour of the highlights of St Louis.  Our first stop will begin at the historic Laclede’s Landing we will then travel to the “Gateway of the West” the 630’ St Louis Arch.  We will spend time there going up the Tram to the top of the arch or visiting the many exhibits and movies provided.  We then will embark on a tour of the 1371 acre Forest Park home of the 1904 World’s Fair and a visit to the New Cathedral Basilica.  From there we will travel to the River City Casino for lunch and maybe a little Lady Luck with six dining venues to choose.  After lunch our next destination will be the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery and Missouri Civil War Museum.  We will round out the day with a stop at the Anheuser Busch Brewery to see the Clydesdales, tour the Brewery and have a couple of frosty cold Buds or the beer of your choice.

Friday we have a shorter tour of the Roemer Topf German Restaurant in Mascoutah Illinois you will be amazed at the décor and staff.  Our group will enjoy a special variety meal of schnitzel, wurst and chicken breast along with red cabbage, sauerkraut and three German desserts.  While dining we will enjoy and accordionist in lieder hosen who will lead the group in fun sing-a –longs celebrating German heritage at its finest.  After lunch we will enjoy a pipe organ concert at the Lincoln Theatre in Belleville Illinois.  We will be transported back to the time of silent movies when the organist guided the crowd through the drama onscreen with his musical styling's.

That night we will see The World Champion St. Louis Cardinals take on the Washington National at Busch Stadium.  Remember I told you we would bring home the World Championship; I attended game two and six which was one of the most exciting World Series Games ever!

Saturday we will have our usual itinerary with the Breakfast Buffet, Association Business Meeting, Raffle, Photos and Banquet.

Dad and I are looking forward to seeing all of you at St. Louis next year,
Thanks, Michael.
